#26 ayg ;
sorry people for the long wait for a post
well, so its official, this is the 1st post for July!
YEA! -.-
well anyway, im here to fulfill a promise. a promise to my junior in choir.
here goes...
so yea, im watching ayg (i know, its long past) occasionally and here i am, trying to blog about it.
watching ayg was fun, if you ask me. i mean my heart was really pumping fast when the swimming events started. its like people racing for their lives. ok, im crapping but im just trying to say ayg really makes you excited and anxious.
well, i watched:
1. swimming
2. bowling
3. sailing
4. opening ceremony
5. closing ceremony
swimming:
tingwen rock. 4 golds. STUNNED
but sorry, i didnt happen to watch her race. so nothing much to talk about her.
but i really felt sorry for stephanie (HK). she trained so hard but still lose to tingwen and amanda/e (dont know how to spell >.<)
well, if stephanie you are reading this - which is impossible - i'm just gonna say
"Congrats, you have done a great job in AYG. wish you all the best"
ok, let me talk about bowling.
bowling was... erm... like that... normal, nothing much. cos i only watched the master finals, g and b.
i had to admit the girl master winner, from South Korea, was superior. She always gets a strike and whenever she does, i clapped (?) :B
blah blah
low basil represented the singapore boys bowling masters and won a gold medal! :D YAY!
well, no offence but i thought of basil seed... :D
lets stop talking about bowling. move on to sailing.
sailing! the longest i watched!
darren! lalalala. he rock as much as tingwen!
my, how can he do that? winning people for more than 20 boats length.
its like people is trained like him but he can still win people by that MUCH!
oo
opening ceremony.
hmm, i guess its not bad but not as exciting as NDP though.
closing ceremony.
people say 'short and sweet' but seems like it does works in this case...
you know what i mean.
well, thats all i think.
oh wait.
lastly, i want to thank every athlete who had make this event so exciting.
chunglok
p.s sorry for the loust grammar and plotting. admit i just anyhow did the work. im tired people..
p.p.s i love tingwen and darren :B you both rock!

#024 flag day ;
yesterday was flag day, and so, i went to flag raise.
so basically, thats what happened...
i met with vincent at B Batok MRT station, then we took MRT to Outram Park, then transfer to NEL take to Dhoby Ghaut. yea, we took NEL, because we take it very oftenly and hence, wanted to try it. it was actually quite fast, compared to SMRT. but i dont like their announcements. what i mean is their announcements are always very muffled and what we heard when we step out of the train was
"Please mind the happy nippy platform". Thats what we heard. of course, its not spelled as 'happy' and 'nippy' but it
is pronounced as 'happy' and 'nippy'. lols. so that got us into fits of laughter.
then we met up with tinhang, fungkiu ee and may ee. went into plaza singapura. and know what? we are the first people to enter the mall that day. the escalators are not on yet, they are on
-ing it (for us, i think). we followed the security guard everywhere he went as he is in charge of on-ing them. so blah blah, we reached the 6th storey and went to the food center and wait for may ee to drink her drink while we prepare our tins like pasting stickers around the tins' brim and whatever. we also got a briefing by uncle kamyau, who arrived 20 mins late because of the NSL disruption. thank God we took NEL and not NSL, if not we will be stuck down there at the tunnel too.
well, so we started the flag raising at around 1030(?) i paired up with fungkiu ee while vincent with may ee and tinhang with uncle kamyau. i and fk ee went to the bus stop infront of plaza sing while vincent and may ee at the entrance of plaza sing and tinhang and uncle ky at the entrance of the MRT station opposite plaza sing (so they are on the other side of the road).
it was quite annoying at first as people always reject to donate. yes, i went to them and ask them (im quite automatic eh) but they just
a. wave their hand
b. ignore me like im invisible and they cant hear me and;
c. say sorry and walk off.
really, its annoying but after a while, about 45 mins or so, i got used to it and whenever people reject my "offer", i just smile and say 'thank you (anyway)'.
one reminder, when you do flag day, you must ask people and not stand at one corner and expect people to come to you. there was only 2 person who automatically gave me money without me asking for it. so yea, dont stand and wait.
there's one chinese idiom that goes
'守株待兔'anyway, i was the 2nd heaviest among the 6 of us. 1st was fk ee. guess our spot was really a good place as when people alight from the bus, we immediately rushed forward, stop them and ask for donation. i also shouted out loud "Good morning, please help the elderly very loudly so that the whole lot who has just alighted would hear. actually, its quite successful.
and the atrium @ orchard was also a spot where alot of people will pass by. so that also contributed to the heaviness of both mine and fk ee's tin.
after lunch, at around 1500, we went to bugis with vincent and tinhang (the adults went home) to meet up with holly and tipshun. haha, they will supervise us. anyway, bugis is a total failure. i would never ever go to bugis to flag raise again.
yes, there are many people, but most of them are teenagers and thus, little percentage of them would want to bother us. they just shoo us off. in contrast, plaza sing has alot of aunties, uncles and working adults, who would want to 'help the elderly' and donate to us. hence, another reminder, next time if you are flag raising, dont go to bugis.
oh but since we are already in bugis, we make a full use of it. here's what i did.
between bugis junction and bugis street, you need to cross the road and there are two traffic lights. hence, some people will be stuck in the middle of the road when both traffic lights turn red. hehe, i think you know what i did... i and vincent stood there, in the middle of the road.
people are stuck there, so when we ask them, they cant run away and 90% of them donated when we ask them. people who did not donate/reject us is because they are in a rush to the shopping mall. lols. so we took the chance when they are stuck. hehe, we are very evil :D bahaha, but at least i used 1 sheet of stickers there..
after that, because it's raining, we went back to bugis junction and walk around, asking people. we mostly ask aunties and uncles who are there. but hey, i asked almost everyone i saw. thats why there's a huge difference between mine and tinhang's/vincent's tin. NO OFFENCE..
ok, thats all. we reached SDC at 1815. oh, before i forget, we saw yuenhar ee and po hung ee still flag raising in je interchange. they are both doing their 3rd tin. 3rd!!! lols. let me continue. as we are starting to count money at 1900, we talked about our "experiences" we had. they are all so funny.
ok, i fast forward to counting money. i counted tins #326-350. that includes my, parents, vincent's, fung kiu ee's, uncle kam yau's and tinhang's tin. lols. let me just give a brief account of the money we collected.
me: $157.75
mum: $214
dad: $140+
v: $50+
th: $20
i forgotten fk ee's and uncle ky's amount but i know i topped the dhoby ghaut people! :B
oh and i think that the highest might be gu zhei poi poi, excluding yuen har ee and po hung ee. she collected $282 in only 1 tin! and highest for student group is wingsang, with a total amount of $260+!
FYIfor morning shift, 1030-1410, i used 3 and a 3/4 of the stickers.
for afternoon shift, 1530-1700, i used 1 and a 1/2 of the stickers.
so add up, i used 5 sheets of stickers!
secondly, the foreigners do not donate to us although we asked. NO OFFENCE. i asked about 20+ foreigners and only 2 gave me. how sad.
ok bye, thats all. im going to play floorball now!

hey, i went to library, and i found a book:
40th anniversary - SYF
(i forgot the name, but its something like that)
Inside, i found a paragraph written like that:
Along with the mulitfarious diversification in the 2000s, the standard of the SYF has also improved by leaps and bounds. "The Swing", a play by Commonwealth Secondary School in 2001, left such a vivid impression that it prompted Mr Daniel Ariffin, an audience at the presentation to remark, "... The play was very thought-provoking. It shows what teenagers are facing today. The actors brought out the emotions very well. It actaully left a lump in my wife's throat.

#014 came back from malaysia ;
yea, came back from malaysia. it was like... fun and tired.
actually, something funny happened before i reached malaysia.
okay, we planned to meet in the MRT station @ 0610. I was late, so went to Kranji myself. Reached Kranji @ 0635/earlier. I was practically running out of the train and getting to the busstop.
but wait, I cant see them.
so i began wandering around, searching for them and what i got was NOTHING.Panic set in.
Yes, PANIC.
oh, im making a hill out of a mole hole. Actually, I didnt panic, cos there's God. He's always here for me. Well, I was just what-am-i-suppose-to-do?
Luckily for me, I spotted a pay phone. So I went to call my house. And of course, they (my parents) answered. And, yea, I just fast forward. I need to take 170 to malaysia immigrant centre and there will be my friend waiting for me.
Ok, so i crossed the singapore border into the malaysia's all by my own. At the bridge, there was no traffic jam. But when we reached the Malaysia's old immigrant centre, there's traffic jam. ALL BECAUSE OF THE CARS. Sigh, Malaysia do not have bus lanes, and thus, 170 was stuck there because of the cars. and that actually took away 20 mins of my time.
well, i successfully met my friend and there i go.
took 0900 coach to kluang.
1100 reached kluang.
skipped games part and immediately went into watching-video-mood. Oh yah, and I changed group to work with Tin Hang (Jacob) and not Enoch & Brian. So its like, "what's happening?"
blah blah, group disscusion after that. I & Jacob talked alot
crap. yea, no craps. anyway, we played a 5 mins game before starting asking them questions. hmm, seems like it works well. they were quite attentive for a while (10mins), but after that, they stop paying attention and start looking around -.- but hey, i told them there will be sweets if they answer our questions and this time, it works VERY well (: lols. we also got to share our experiences with them. yea, i was glad that my sharing and Jacob's sharing was smooth. whooh, the best part now!
3/4 of them said that they believe in God. I was overjoyed. Hey, that's my aim for going to Kluang -- to bring them to believe in God.
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!yay, off we go to tropical village after lunch. the weather was hot. very very humid. and we are doing amazing race under this blazing sun. we ran around and finally, we got a third! yay. 3rd among 6 groups! :DD
me and jacob then went to cycle the boats. yes, we cycle them like bicycle cos they are foot holds for us to cycle to move the boats. It was fun, you know? we were playing bumper boats, bumping into anyone in our way, until a person came in motor boat and asked us to stop. of course, we stop. and we had fun taking photos (: gee, i like photography
reflection after dinner. reflection time was fun too! i love the life man.
yea, the next day, have bb meeting, then lunch, then played a 10 mins (cos need to go already) cluedo, then went home to singapore. home sweet home! oh, and the immigrant lady in Singapore ask to check my bag. like i would smuggle things home -.-

#013 CDPskit over ;
yes, cdp skit over. however, im very sad to say that it wasnt as good as yesterday's in the classroom that one. but, it's still okay, and acceptable. No offence to other classes, I think that ours was the best. BIAS!
who cares?
i think we're the best doesnt means you must think that way too (:
anyway, now that cdp skit was over, there's still some class project going on.
1. adopt-a-wall
2. service learning
well, service learning proposal need to be handed up tomorrow and it is done.
therefore right now, what i worry most is adopt-a-wall project, which need to be done once the june hols are over.
sigh, then the service learning worry after june hols bah, cos sep then need hand up. but better say aug need hand up la.
its like every day, every week, every month, I need to worry about something.
Not this, then that.
Very sure afer the service learning will still got some more class project.
YAY, class bonding! -.-
-cl
p.s
thinks that 2/2 skit was abit unrelated.
2/3 was simple but ok.
2/4 was ok.
1/1 was ok.
1/2-4 not ok. they all have the same setting -- classroom.
whats more, 1/3 & 4 has the same plot,
which is get bad results and then work very hard (tenacity),
then pass with FLYING COLOURS.
wow, so original...
oh ok, NO OFFENCE. really, just my thoughts.
guess last year we also like that, but we learnt from our mistakes.
yea, all of us need to learn from our mistakes and not commit them again.
like that, we can move on. yea, to greater heights!
cheers.

#012 what im gonna say ;
today, fortunately, the class seems to be better. yay, God answered my prayers!
Anyway, here's what happened......
asked them to settle, dont listen, just like yesterday. but at least it's much more faster this time. Okay, blah blah blah.
Anyway, we gave them 15 mins to change to their costume and yea, 15 mins. But you know what? The rest of the whole science period we did nothing. Nothing at all... see for yourself:
15 mins: do w/s
15 mins: change
30 mins: trying to settle them but seems like it didnt work...Sigh
Im beginning to lost hope and faith in them already lor. I think that seriously, they are very inmature. We learnt the phrase "settle down" in
p3. Okay, let just say you learnt that last year. Fine. But you don't come and tell me you only learn "Keep quiet" last year. That's because in
kindergarten we had already learn that phrase and we obey it too. Then, what happen now? You all forgot the meaning?
It's like even the kindergarten kids can do a much better job than you all lor.We are not asking you all to do very difficult things.
Keep quiet.
2 words, is that very difficult.
If it is, you come to me, I will teach your personally how in the world to shut your mouth. and it's FOC.
Okay, let's just look at the
brighter side of things.
Today, we actually did quite a good job (except for the fact that they have problem settling down). The skit was actually okay. But of course, there are still rooms for improvements. Here's some things which I want to highlight:
1. Passerby-s!!! Hey, I dont wanna prompt you all everytime. Please be alert and go out on your own at the right time. When the scene changed, just immediately go in. Who cares? It's better than the scene had already started and there's only 3 people on the stage. So, just go in when the scene is changing, when the stage hands are moving in the tables. Anyway, you are supposed to come in during the construction time.
2. Shop keepers! same as PB. Scene change, come in. and go out when maisarah closes down the shop.
3. Maisarah: Add in more feelings and emotions to the skit. It looks better and more dramatic. Remember waving your hands high up into the air in the 1st scene when you got the highest score? Can you put these little little things into the skit? It helps.
4. Stage hands: Again, be alert. There will be lighting. So, when the lights go off, come in and do the necessaries like movin gin tables and chairs. And do be quick, the audience are always impatient and we are running out of time. So, when lights off, zoom in. Also, please please do not drag the chairs and tables. Carry them!
5. Whole class:
a. be cooperative
b. be attentive
c. be alert
d. be ever-ready
and with all these, I'm sure we're going do a good job and get our pizza. CHEERS!

#011 i feel sad ;
yeah yeah, i feel sad. sad for the class. i briefly tell you all what happened today.
We asked the class to settle down. A few did. What are the others doing? Playing and chatting. Yeah yeah, socialising -- very good. But sorry hor,
wrong time to socialise. So we kept on shouting for them to sit down but did it work? Of course no. What's more, they broke the clock while playing and that means that we have to report it to the GO. wow, how great it is...
We just continue to shout shout shout and shout. finally, they sat down. that's like 15 mins. GREAT! What's so difficult about settling down?
Its just going back to your seats, sit down and shut your mouth. SOOO DIFFICULT LER. what's their problem with them?????
Then, zhiming told them about the stage arrangement, which i thought it's wrong timing again.
No offence, zhiming, I know you are trying to help. But it's like, they are not even listening, and I think that even after you said all those things, they cant absorb it and we got to repeat it again. So whats the point of telling them when it's just a waste of time? No offence. sigh. so for the 40 mins, I sat there staring at the class and here's what i see.
1. People are doing their own things (as usual, like board-gam-ing)
2. Others are just practically day dreaming, although they look at you.
3. Sleeping.Actually, I feel like telling these people
"This just goes to show how you want the CDP skit to go. it reflects your character." Sure, people do things for you and you take them as granted. We (nila, maisarah, jooyee, joshua, vincent, xiuzhen, stephanie, me) stayed back just to practice the skit. And the grade of the skit is shared evenly throughout the whole class (except for special reasons). This means that its not fair for us. Its not fair for people who stayed back just for the skit. Its not fair for people who put in all their time, effort and everything just for the success of the skit. ITS NOT FAIR. well, I'm going to do this if this is going to continue: I'm going to tell Ms Kokila those who just dont give a damn about this skit. and guess what? they're going to get a pretty but F for CDP.
Too bad your character is like that. I still remember what Ms kokila and Mrs Liow said. They said that even if your grade rock the whole entire universe, but your character just suck like dont know what, your rocking grades are just useless. get what i mean? Do you think a boss would hire a person with a bad character compared to a person with good character? No. Why would anyone wants a person who might cheat your money, who might slack and cause trouble? If anyone is going to hire them, they are crazy.
Anyway, if you read my lastest post, you will realise we still have
2 hours left. 1 hour is for the full dress rehearsal. And like i say, full dress rehearsal are not normal rehearsal. We're not going to prompt you all to go up and also not going to polish the scenes like normal practices. Here's what full dress rehearsals are for: To allow actors and actresses to know how fast they need to move (size of classroom not equals to size of hall), the place to put mics and props and blah blah.
yeah, that means that we left 1 hour to polish up the scenes. and you know what? we still havent even practice scenes 3-5 before. venkat and shafiq not here.
WE DO NOT HAVE TIME!!!!!!!!!!remember what syafiqah said.
remember what zhiming said.
remember what nila said.
remember what ms kokila said.
remember what i said.
if you all just put in your best, your 100% and co-operate with us. Trust me, everything will be fine. But the problem is you all are not doing so. remember what are the weaknesses we had during the last rehearsal in the hall? dont commit them again! puff.
PIZZA! You want it, you make it become true.
Saying is easier then acting it out.
You want it, but you do not do a single thing to achieve it. then, whats the point of saying "Hey, I want the pizza"?
I remember a chinese proverb which goes like this:
一份耕耘,一份收获。
This means that what you grow is what you harvest.
you grow 1 ha of padi, you get back 1 ha of padi.
you want more, you grow more.
but if you grow nothing, you get nothing.
Simple as that.
So that's what going to happen. You dont do a thing, you wouldnt get a thing. You wouldnt get your Pizza. You also wouldnt get your grade.
FAIR?
Summarising:
Please please put in your best tomorrow during the sci period and the full dress rehearsal. Please also co-operate with us and be ever-ready. Like that, everything will turn out fine, and everyone will just be happy. no nagging, no scolding, no, nothing. that's the last practice we have. what we do tomorrow will also tell us how we will be performing on the actual day.
You want your pizza, you gonna work for it. and work hard, mind you. you dont expect the pizza to come to your mouth when you did nothing. it doesnt works this way.
you dont work hard, you dont care, you dont seems to try to make the skit a successful one, you are gonna get it. you are gonna get what is the best for you - F.
ok, thats all. put in your best, and we are on our way......
-chunglok, trying to chill... sorry, 太激动了...
p.s
someone cried because of all these. im not going to name that person.
but seriously la, go reflect on your own.
What is the force that made the person cried?
Is like, really, people cry for you all lor.
that person cried because he/she thinks that you all have ears but dont listen,
No offence but really, please reflect and change. Change that sucky attitude of yours. Change!
CHANGE WE NEED! All of us needs to improve, including me. So yea, go, reflect and improve.

#010 CDP skit ;
cdp skit is tiring me out these days. is like we only left 2 hours for practice and people are still not co-operating but playing a fool and creating so much noise when we rehearse. this sucks man. do they even know that they are going to perform in front of the whole school? infront of their seniors. infront of Mrs Cheah, Mdm Toh, Mrs Terrance...
*sigh*
i just hope that what i do will so called "motivate" them. and of course the incentives too. PIZZA!!! my mouth's watering (:
well, just to remind you people again.
confirmed1 hour: Common Test
1 hour: Hist
unconfirmed1 hour: Cmt
1 hour: Sci
1 hour: Mon; 1500-1600
just see for yourself, people. this is how much time we left:
5 hours
somemore 3 unconfirmed and ..
1 hour is used for in the hall, when everything is supposed to be practiced and when everything is supposed to be polished up. what we do in the hall is to practice the lighting, the speed of movements and the placements of props. yea, of course the skit too...
so...

you all realised how serious it is?
I know I keep on scolding and reminding you all, making all of you irritated.
But just go and think, who force us (class comm & sc's) to scold you all?
What is the driving force that just push our patience out of what we can withstand?
ans:
YOU ALLfine, im getting mad over here. im going crazy. buck up people, buck up. there's a long way to go. there's alot of room for improvement and i know that if you all co-operate, we can fill these rooms and perform the
best CDP skit people ever seen (:

Chinese dance got their results today @ 4.15pm or so.
I heard them screaming while we (vincy and someone - duh, me) were in the library.
Oh cmon, its like 3 storey away we can hear people screaming.
That's like..
scary.
Then, out of curiousity, I ran out of library and saw girls running down the stairs,
while screaming.
Knew it was good news.
Saw cheryl and asked them what they got...
"GOLD!"
Oh ho, i shook hands with them and congradulate them.
They expected a silver and the instructor expected a bronze.
But, they made it!
They did it!
They broke their limits!
They got back a GOLD
I'm like, 'really? That's really great! (+ive)'

#002 GOLD WITH HONROUS! ;
well, choir got
GOLD WITH HONOURS, all commonwealthians know that. I will just tell you all what happened that day.
-
we came to school @ 10 then 1230 went to warmed up and blah blah blah.
@ 4
(i think) we left for VCH. We hummed on the bus. Yea, and I was drinking lots of honey water provided by the choir comm.
hmm, reached VCH and saw RVHS and their conducter. And then we were like, ohho, rv!
did humming again for warm up as the room that was given makes our note goes flat.
then went to the corridor and waited for rv to finish.
we heard them sing white horses and it was like quite fast. oh, i must add i can only hear the part they went very loud. Guess the other parts were soft.
then heard their
qin qin qin kuang.ok blah blah
we went up the stage with a big huge smile on our faces. duh, cheekbones were so high!
piano started for 'The White Horses' and I open my mouth and sang softly
with intensity. quite a good starting.
then everything went well. I mean all the songs.
The chords for Jaacobin, I can hear them.
The chorale was very neat
(for the first time)then walked off the stage with smile again.
-
we screamed once we were outside VCH. Oh, the girls cry. We were like crazy...
Mr Foong came out and told us if was quite well done.
Mr Kwei came out with two thumbs up and said 'Im proud of you...A good GOLD WITH HONOURS!'
We screamed on the spot, and waved to all the choirs. yea, we danced. we cheered. we did all things that will be considered as stupid and retarded.
lols
ok, thats all.
-
The results day, we sat on the parde square and waited for the results.
To kill time, we sang the 3 songs and jaacobin was very horribly done cos the chorale was disgusting. Hmm, went out of tune.
Who cares? Syf is over!
Then charmaine answered the hp and we were like 'Shhhh'.
Charmaine: No matter what we get, no regrets right, choir?
We: YES!
C: Choir, Im sorry to say...
C: We got gold.
C: WITH HONOURS!
We: *jump up and down and cries and scream and shout and threw people up the sky and ran around and played frisbee and dance and hug.*
We: 3 cheers and 3 cheers for choir. hip hip HORRAY, hip hip HORRAY! *screams*
We also called Mr Foong and screamed into the phone. Bet he went deaf for few hours.
-
The school celebrated our success by using the CIT period.
"School, we are very happy to say that the choir has brought us back a gold
WITH HONOURS."
"I was there when they perform and they really brought the whole house down."
"At their last song, a Japanese song, I was tearing as its a sad song and the choir really expresses the feeling out."
"I think the teachers will also agree with me that the choir was really good that day"
"The were the best that day, the only gold with honours choir that day."
"Think that they really impressed the judges."
"..."
"The choir will continue to excel. They have another performance on 0605 infront of the president, and I am very sure they will keep up the GWH standard."
"..."
says the principal
-
Whooh, Im so happy! Going crazy i think
-
Ohh, here's what one of the audience said about our choir:
Commonwealth Sec Sch
Jaakobin isot pojat (the sons of Jacob)
Ashita wa Hare Kana Kumori Kana
Prediction: GwH / H G
Actual : GwH
I always liked gold ties, which the guys are wearing. Anw the choir's huge, and thus able to carry a wide range of dynamics, it's a surprisingly good performance of the set piece with very well controlled phrasing. I was worried when I saw 'Jaakobin' as one of the choice pieces, but they do it well! Pitch was accurate at most parts, and is pretty impressive. Ladies and gentlemen, I would say a potential contender for gold with honours. The chords are good, but they went sharp, still a darn good job! Last piece is delicate, very mature sound for a choir so young, the phrasing and dynamics are well-controlled. The sound forces u to breathe in sync with them, it was magic! I'd say, "Gold with honours"!!!!
